Mt. Kynoch Water Treatment Plant (WTP) is operated by the Toowoomba Regional Council to supply water to Toowoomba City and surrounding areas. The existing main Control System of the WTP had been in operation for over 17 years with components of the current Control System being at the end of their commercial life with associated support no longer available.
In 2017 Alliance Automation was awarded the contract to upgrade the existing Quantum PLC Control System to a new Schneider Electric M580 solution. The scope of work included:
- Replacement of the all existing Modicon Quantum PLC hardware within the plant.
- Conversion/Rewrite of existing PLC program
- Testing of code and reconnected I/O including FAT and commissioning
- Optimisation of code and selected Plant Processes
